“This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man” William Shakespeare (Hamlet)
To be true to who you are means knowing who you are. Knowing who you are means listening to your heart and listening to your soul. It is not allowing yourself to be defined by anyone else or anything else.
So who are you?
It is not about how you categorise yourself! It is not about the labels you give yourself or others! It is not about how other people see you! It is not about the mask you wear every day.
It’s not about whether you are male. female, black, white, mother, father, son, brother, daughter, sister, professional, student, married, single…….
It is about YOU! So who are YOU?
What are your hopes, your dreams? What are you passionate about? What makes you who you are? Your qualities? What do you like about yourself? What have you done that makes you proud? What have you done that has made you smile?
What challenges you? What have you done in the last month which scares you? When was the last time you spoke to someone you didn’t know? What have you done to step out of your comfort zone?
When was the last time you thought about who you really are? When was the last time you were true to yourself? When was the last time you could say that you were truly happy? Because unless you can be true to who you are, the image you portray will always be false, always a lie, never the truth.
So what are you scared of??
